Which magnets are stronger?

by Vanessa on Dec.29, 2011, under Earth Magnets

Which magnets are stronger?

Both of these are neodymium magnets. Which one has more pull strength?

1. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005HYCSLS/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?ie=UTF8&m=A2OWTFZVIG7K1P claims to have 4.3lbs pull force each, meaning if you stuck them all together they would pull 25.8lbs

2. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0049OAEAY/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&m=A3CXZ32ML2H79F this single magnet can HOLD 35 lbs. Is this the same as how much it can pull?

Tritton AX180 vs turtle beach PX21’s?

by Vanessa on Dec.02, 2011, under Earth Magnets

Tritton AX180 vs turtle beach PX21\’s?

hi guys, im getting a new pair of headphones for the holiday’s so i thought i would look some up, so far these two have grabbed my attention both on quality and price.
Tritton’s are $70 were the PX21’s are $65. Here are the stats of each headphones (cause i dont know what the mean)
Tritton:
Speaker – 2 x 40mm Driver 106dB, Frequency Response: 25-22KHz, THD: -97dB THD
SNR(DB/V) – 95
Mic – Flexible and Removeable
Frequency Response – 25Hz-20KHz
PX21:
40 mm diameter speakers with neodymium magnets with a frequency response of 20Hz-20kHz, >120dB SPL@ 1kHz
Sorry for not having too much info on the PX21’s but im looking on walmart for the info.
i mostly judge headphones in this order for many reasons:
1. Comfort
2. Sound Quality
3. Durability
Also if you can recommend headphones as long as you say facts about them and their around the same price (15 bucks difference)
In ahead of time i thank you for who answers me.

Would a rare earth magnet stick to a round lithium battery by itself?

by Vanessa on Nov.06, 2011, under Earth Magnets

Would a rare earth magnet stick to a round lithium battery by itself?

I am thinking of making a small LED ornament that would light up when I place a magnet to ‘press down’ one of its legs to a battery. When I don’t need the ornament to light up, I simply remove the magnet. Both battery and magnet would be round and flat, like a coin.

This idea would only work if the magnet would attract the battery by itself. I want to ask around before I go ahead and buy the materials.

What is this called? It has to do with magnets, gravity, cold temperatures, and liquid nitrogen?

by Vanessa on Jul.21, 2011, under Earth Magnets

What is this called? It has to do with magnets, gravity, cold temperatures, and liquid nitrogen?

I watched this show on a science channel a while back and it had to do with extremely powerful earth magnets opposing one another and then, while holding them in place, you dip the magnets in liquid nitrogen (I think) and the magnets stay in that same position no matter what you stack on them or what direction you turn them… sorry I can’t give more information and I’m not saying this very professionally, but I’m hoping that I can find what it is. If more information is needed, I’ll see what I can do, just let me know!

Are there metal screws that aren’t magnetic?

by Vanessa on Jul.19, 2011, under Earth Magnets

Are there metal screws that aren\’t magnetic?

I am making a small maglev (Magnetic Levitation) model train and need screws that I can use to screw the wooden track pieces together without interfering with the magnetic field. I’m using incredible powerful rare earth magnets for the train car and the track. I can use plastic screws if necessary, but I’m worried about the heads coming off and the plastic not being a very long term solution. Any ideas would be great. Thanks!
