Pokemon Heartgold Rom Freeze Problem? Help!?

I’ve got a NDS (the oldest model) and I’ve downloaded Pokemon Heartgold. It works fine, but after about 10 minutes in, it freezes? The sound and music is still playing, but the gameplay freezes. So I deleted that Rom and got a new one, and that one works perfectly too, but also freezes about 10 minutes in, with the same problem.
Is it because my DS is too old? Or is it my r4’s problem? I have a 2gb Normal r4. 2nd Generation storage device.
Please help!
Oh, and if you guys also know, where to get a PATCHED Pokemon WHITE Rom, that would be great! I’ve downloaded heaps, but when I start the game, the screen just goes white.
